What is Shake the Dust?

Shake the Dust is a movement practice inspired by Tantrik philosophy and set to music, which integrates body weight movements, yoga and pilates moves, but without the ‘push’ which you might have felt in traditional fitness classes. With a focus on activating the nervous system through the physical body, for mental health and well-being, Shake the Dust is a transformative, embodied, workout of the body/heart/mind. Combining high intensity movement, body weight training, yoga, pilates, somatics, dance and intuitive movement into a music driven workout (or rather work-in!)

With a theme related to each practice we journey between repetitive movements, rest, strength and free movement. This class is designed for ANYONE but especially yogis and will at best deliver a cathartic release, a great workout, SWEAT and a strong, resilient body.

Shake the Dust will be followed by an Embodied Yin practice:

In Yin Yoga we create gentle (sometimes more dynamic) long held postures and practices with an attitude of Maitri, loving kindness. The poses stimulate energy flow in meridians, energy channels, and restore, rewire and replenish our nervous system.

The practice of yin yoga is based on ancient Chinese philosophies and Taoist principles which believe there are pathways of Qi (energy) that run through our bodies. By stretching and deepening into poses, we’re opening up any blockages and releasing that energy to flow freely. An embodied approach to yin yoga invites us to explore our multidimensional capacities for healing by listening and sensing with the whole body-mind. It increases awareness of our mind-body connection in each dimension and through different somatic approaches, intuitive movement, classical nondual Tantra, Chinese medicine and Yin yoga, opens up space by helping to release limitations.
